How It All Began.....
Pops and Pics really all started because of my friends and the parties and get togethers we had ... boy do they love some themed events. WHEW! LOL
That's us in the picture...heading to a New Kids on the Block concert! LOL I'm the one on the right.... Melinda Ferguson ...without their support and encouragement, this new adventure would not be happening, so I am extremely thankful and blessed to have strong women in my life who celebrate and encourage my successes! :-)
My very FIRST balloon "arch" -
It was for one of our kid's graduation parties and someone had purchased one of those Amazon balloon kits with that dang plastic strip. I offered to put it together...Let's just say THAT was not my finest hour....LOL
Then came the pivotal moment that got me excited about creating balloon structures.... While planning a 50th gathering for one of us, another friend scrolled her way through TikTok and learned how to create balloon arches without that dreaded plastic strip.
Once she taught me ... that was it.... I found myself searching through pictures on Pinterest and "how to" videos on YouTube and TikTok to push my skill level to improve the balloon creations with each party! I was hooked.... This was our next event...my "Bonus" son and daughter's baby shower....(May 23, 2025) The proportions are definitely off... but it's not too bad. LOL
It is a fun way to decompress, but more importantly, it makes people smile...which I love to do! :-)
It's crazy to think how my relationship with balloons has changed from that first day of fussing and cussing with that plastic strip to now! LOLOL
Before I knew it, people were saying, "You should do this as a business!" And then I received my first paid job (June 7, 2025) a baby girl's Lion King Baby Shower. I wanted to do a statement piece so I incorporated a "Tree of Life" into the design. I was so worried they wouldn't like what I had created...but I could not have asked for a more down to Earth and comfortable family to start my new journey! LOL They were so happy, which made me so happy! They even said I needed to charge more; that I needed to better value my time and effort ! LOLOL Bless 'em...such a wonderful memory as my first paid job! Awesome family!
Then my first commercial job with Chesapeake Regional Hospital came from a referral...before I even had a logo or a website! LOL It was October 16, 2025, to celebrate their 100th open heart surgery!! I was so honored to be part of such a meaningful event! It was awesome working with them to bring their vision to life...and that has opened the doors to at least 5 potential jobs from random people approaching, impressed with my work! I feel so blessed and beyond thankful to everyone who has contributed to my journey! Thank you! :-)
